Last year, I started reading a book to help prepare for a new discipleship pathway we were building for our church. The author, David Platt, stated a common refrain Christians hold to, that all Scripture is God inspired. I believe that to be true. I know the verse. I've studied the doctrine and theology that backs it up.

But when I read it, my mind added a comma where there wasn't one in Platt's book. Here's how I read it...

Then I had this thought: Can God be inspired?

My immediate answer was, "No". How can you inspire an all-knowing, all-powerful God? But, then, all these passages started running through my mind where God takes time to point at certain people and says things like:

• Noah - the most humble man on earth
• Job - a man of complete integrity
• Centurion - faith Jesus never saw in Israel
• David - a man after God's own heart

So I started looking. I wanted to see all the times Scripture pointed at a specific individual and called them out. What was it about them that made heaven take notice? Were there any common themes or characteristics linking the stories together? Is it possible for Christians today, to still live lives that heaven marvels at?

As I began looking, I discovered all these moments where heaven took notice and identified ten traits throughout Scripture that seemed to draw God's attention. These traits became the basis for a sermon series we preached at our church, but I knew that even as the series ended, God wasn't done with what He was teaching me. I kept feeling this tug to get these lessons into more people's hands.

In September I released the follow up book to the series, When Heaven Marvels. The response and feedback to this book has been overwhelming.
