Hey Reader!

Jesus marveled exactly twice in the Gospels. Once at unbelief. Once at faith.

The faith one wasn’t a Pharisee. It wasn’t one of the Twelve. It was a Roman military officer — an occupier, a Gentile, a man with no religious résumé at all — and he wasn’t even asking for himself. He was asking for his servant.

Then he said the line I stole to give chapter one it's name...

Just say the word.

He didn’t need Jesus to come. He didn’t need a ceremony, a touch, a sign, a guarantee. He understood authority because he lived inside a chain of command, and he figured that if his word moved a hundred men, the word of Jesus could move a body lying paralyzed across town.

Jesus marveled.

Now read it the other way around. Imagine — just for a second — Jesus saying that about you.
